Who said the best things in life aren’t free? When you’re at the WetSide Water Education Park, you can swim, slide and have fun with your friends, kids and family with lifeguards on patrol ready to save you when you needed – all for free! Yes, free!
Created by Water Bay Water Corporation, WetSide is fun, eco-friendly and totally free water park. Tourists and residents can enter the park and learn all about water as well as how it can be sustainably used - it is enjoyable infotainment at its best.
If you want to go to a special area for kids aged five years and below, proceed to the TotSide. You can also ride on the special FlipSide BoardRider wave machine. Tickets for both special areas in WetSide costs $5.
WetSide was opened on December 6, 2009 by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh. Since then, it has attracted water-lovers of all ages and sizes. It was also awarded by Trip Advisor as the Travelers' Choice® 2013 Winner.
Trip Advisor Senior Contributor “Nigel J” brought his seven-month old baby at WetSide and describes it as a “Great experience.”
“We went here with our 7 month old, and found it a great experience. We chose to go there during a school day to avoid the hordes of kids who would normally frequent these places. They've tried to make it somewhat educational with a variety of informative displays about water and conservation etc. Good to see lifeguards on patrol here.”
Trip Advisor Contributor “MsMacca100” finds WetSide very clean, well maintained and “Great free fun for family”
“All clean and well maintained. Only negative was that we wish the cafe had more healthy eating options.
Fantastic attraction, especially as it is free. We stayed at Hervey Bay and spent money on accommodation and food, so money still came to the region. Attractions like this will bring us back.”
Trip Advisor Contributor “Bendman” finds WetSide unbelievably fantastic mainly due to it being a no-cost water park perfect for kids and the entire family.
“I cannot believe this place... it is a local government initiative that is designed to be fun for the kids but also educational. It only reopened Easter Weekend after the flooding in late January and man we were glad that it was able to. Our three year old had a blast running through the water jets, playing under the water bucket and using the slides. The lifeguards were well organised and very quick to ensure the kids of the rights ages were using the appropriate equipment (e.g. no big kids in the junior kids area). Overall, this was a great day and a must do for kids when in Hervey Bay.”
Trip Advisor Reviewer “Lnort” wanted to share the “Horrible service..” he received at the café and advises everyone to stay away from “Ashlee.”
“I am only a kid. But. I went to this cafe. And I bought a packet of MnMs. And two sour straps the overall price was: $3.50. MnMs were $2.50 sour straps were 50 cents ea.
But I seem to give her $5 and my Change was 10 cents. Went back to get my proper change. I got 25 cents.
Went back again.
I got nothing.
Went back again she gave me $1.60. Told my mum. We left and gave the BOSS the extra change she gave me.
Try to avoid Ashlee. She has blonde hair. And piercings. Thanks bye.”
