The Hervey Bay Ocean Festival makes its return to the Fraser Coast this 2018, and will once again celebrate Australia’s best location for winter whale-watching. Ten days of live music, good food, and more will take place throughout Hervey Bay during the Hervey Bay Ocean Festival, and it’s an event that shouldn’t be passed up on for whale-watching enthusiasts and festival-goers from all over the Queensland region.
When it comes to whale-watching in Australia, there’s no better place for it than Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast. Famous worldwide for its spectacular and intimate whale-watching experience, Hervey Bay is one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in Australia from months July through to November, when the migrating humpback whales can be seen just off the coast as they travel the aptly-named ‘humpback highway’.
The Hervey Bay Ocean Festival will begin with the Blessing of the Fleet on July 21. This initial event will follow an old Mediterranean tradition wishing a safe and thriving season for all vessels of the Great Sandy Straits Marina at the end of Urangan harbour in Hervey Bay, and will be celebrated alongside an evening of free live entertainment, market stalls, a boat parade, and fireworks. The events will then continue from August 10, and will feature the Hervey Bay Seafood Festival on August 12, Whale Parade and Concert on August 18, and the Paddle Out for Whales on August 19. There will also be VIP cruises where you can get as close as possible to the migrating whales, fun workshops, kids’ activities, market stall events, and lots more.
Don’t miss the famous Hervey Bay Ocean Festival this 2018 in Hervey Bay, which will begin initially on July 21 and then continue with an exciting ten-day program from August 10 to August 20.
